Overview and Purpose of Sewage/Wastewater Reuse

Water consumption due to population growth is increasing in agriculture, industry, and household use, and adequate water supply is not available due to drought and floods caused by climate change, and many areas are experiencing difficulties in using water due to water shortage. Therfore, the purpose is to minimize water shortage and pollution by reusing it as agricultural and industrial water through sewage/wastewater treatment and reuse.

Water quality for wastewater reuse

In order to reuse wastewater, each water quality standard such as heavy water, replacement water for cooling water, process water, and purified water that can be directly supplied to pure or ultrapure water manufacturing facilities should be established. In the case of reuse, the water quality standard is to first remove contaminants that directly or indirectly affect production products or process equipment, such as defective factors, corrosiveness, and scale formation. Consideration should be given to water quality standards to prevent the concentration of pollutants in water that may occur due to the continuous circulation of reused water. In addition, there is a need for standards to minimize the effects of solvents and biological contamination by trace organic matter.
